First Aid Utility

I have been running the First Aid utility on an external backup disk, and it seems stuck on ‘Checking catalogue file’. How do I get out of the utility as the ‘Done’ button is grayed out?

Ventura 13.2 Not showing external USB drive in Finder sidebar but it's visible in /Volumes Just today I needed to restore a file from my backup that was created in Carbon Copy Cloner then realized the external usb drive isn't showing in Finder. I can however access it by going to /Volumes or even from CCC's reveal in finder, but it won't show up in the sidebar or on the desktop. (As configured in Finder Settings). My backups are working flawlessly, and I can copy files to and from it. I also performed a First Aid on the drive and it reported no problems. I also went into safeboot. The USB drive didn't show up there either. Nor did safeboot fix the problem. Is this a bug that I should report to Apples feedback page? For the time being I did create an alias to /Volumes on my desktop but to me this is merely a temporary bandaid fix! [Edited by Moderator]

numbers is damaged and cant be opened. if i bin it will i loose all my saved files in numbers spreadsheets Numbers and pages are damaged. If i bin the current version will i loose all data in other files using their spreadsheets?

unable to relaunch finder..TRYING to backup my files my finder has not been responding for days, and even when i relaunch it it immediately returns to being not responsive. it started while i was backing up my files on an external hard drive. is there still some way to get my files backed up? if it’s relevant, i have no idea if i had time machine running.

If the external backup drive is large, it could take some time. It is best to let Disk Utility First Aid finish on its own. Be patient, go do something else and forget about it for a while. Check back at a later time to see if it has finished.
