Restore Backup.. button for iPhone greyed out

I recently updated iOS on my iPhone XR to 13.4.1. The first time I tried to use my password repository after this, it was empty. I need to restore it from a backup file. When I plugged it into my MacBook the "Restore Backup..." button was greyed out. I do have backups on this MacBook as when I click on "Manage Backups.." it shows me them. Any idea how I can restore my data from a previous backup without this button?

Hello PJF11,

Welcome to the Apple Support Communities. I understand you want to restore passwords for your iPhone. I'll explain and show the appropriate steps.

Password are normally stored in iCloud using iCloud Keychain. You wouldn't need the backup from the Mac to restore those: Get help with iCloud Keychain

If you did store them directly to iTunes using an Encrypted Backup, you would need to enter the password to that backup when restoring: About encrypted backups on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch

If the backup was from when the iPhone was using a beta or is corrupted, that might cause it not to be selected either. You would need to restore from a different backup if that is the case.

Enjoy your day.
