I had to change my Apple ID & password, now I cannot access my ICloud info. It does not recognize my old sign in & password info. I lost all my contacts & am trying to retrieve them. Ideas?

After changing my Apple ID password, I no longer have icloud back-up on my MBP OS X 10.9.5 Changed Apple ID password yesterday, then lost Icloud back-up on my MBP OS X 10.9.5 bought 2012. I get error message there's a problem with my AppleID. Message directs me to resolve by entering icloud preferences which then directs me to sign into icloud using ID and password. this is successful and then I get a 6 digit code on my cell. Problem is I don't get a placeholder on my MBP to insert the code (like 6 empty boxes). I also get a message to add code to my password but don't know where to insert . Ive tried resigning in, adding code to my password but get error "wrong password". Is there a location to insert my password with the 6 digit code? Is there any remedy to allow me to restore Icloud back-up? What Options should I pursue to provide an alternate back-up? Thanks

Apple ID Account Recovery without Trusted Phone Number I made the mistake of changing a phone number on our family plan before I removed the passcode from the phone. When I acted like I wanted to remove the passcode, it is forcing me to put in the icloud password from the account the phone is attached to. I cannot remember the password and it won't let me change it unless I have access to the (previous) phone number or the icloud email itself!! It's a vicious cycle!! Any ideas? Did you create anew Apple ID? If you did, then you cannot access the iCloud data with a new ID. It is tied to your old Apple ID.

If you changed the email address that you use for your Apple ID, go through all of the steps in here.
