Apple Pencil 2 Angle Latency
I used my old iPad Pro and Gen 1 Apple Pencil for years with no issues, but I just got an Apple Pencil Gen 2 and an iPad Pro 12.9” (gen 4) both brand new out of the box, and it’s got a big issue
There is a MASSIVE latency with the angle detection when drawing quick consecutive lines. With a continuous line, it works no problem and it changes thick to thin based on the angle of the pencil.
But when doing lines in quick succession (which most people do) I’ll be holding the pencil perfectly perpendicular to the iPad and sometimes it will draw thick lines, sometimes it will draw thin lines, and it’s definitely not because of the pressure. Sometimes it’ll take up to 10 thin lines before the pencil realizes I’m holding it nearly horizontal then it’ll suddenly switch to thick ones.
I tried rebooting multiple times and different tips, but have had no luck. The pencil is at 100% battery too. It makes it nearly unusable, especially for shading and sketching. My gen 1 Apple Pencil on my older iPad NEVER did this and was way smoother.
It does this on procreate and sketchbook pro, so it is not a software issue. Has anyone else had this issue? Perhaps I have a broken Apple Pencil?
Here’s a picture of me drawing a continuous line with constant equivalent pressure fully perpendicular to the iPad (notice how 3-4 seconds into drawing the line down it recognizes it’s at the incorrect angle and fixes itself to be thinner):
