Hi.
I tried connecting my iphone7+ to the appleTV so I can use it as a remote.
I run the remote control but it does not find my applets. The mirror screen works just fine.
What do I need to do?

Identify your Apple TV model - Apple Support
To use the Apple TV Remote in Control Center, you need an Apple TV 4K, Apple TV HD, Apple TV (3rd generation), or AirPlay 2-compatible smart TV. You can’t use the Apple TV Remote in Control Center with Apple TV (2nd generation), but you can use the Apple TV Remote app from the App Store with that model instead.

You need the original remote to setup the Apple TV remote app available from the App Store on your iPhone. If you don't have the original remote then you need to replace the original, Apple sells replacement remotes on their online store.
