iPad Air 3 2019 running iPadOS 13.4.1 freezes occasionally while typing?

I tried all kind of options like Hard reset but nothing seems to work. I hope it's not a hardware issue. No physical damage to ipad, except I sometimes wipe my screen with wet cloth I believe thats completely OK? Do you any of you experience this issue?

How wet is the cloth?

You should only use a cloth that is barely moist/damp dry, NOT soaked or dripping with liquid.

iPads are not waterproof/water resistant, at all.

If you are using a fairly liquid soaked cloth, there is the possibility you could have inflicted water damage into your new iPad Air 3.

That stated and the water issue out of the way,

This is a well known issue here in these iPad support communities.

This intermittent, unresponsive touch screen issue affects a continuing, growing minority of iPad Pro users/models across all 4 years of iPad Pro models, as well as the new 2019 10.5 inch screen iPad Air 3, which is based from the 2017, 10.5 inch screen iPad Pro models.

Take a look at these long standing, longer posts on the subject of this intermittent, unresponsive touch screen

issue, below.

There is STILL no “official” confirmed iOS updates, solutions/fixes, from Apple, after nearly 18 months, now!

None.

That is because this issue is either STILL only affecting a growing, but still very small minority of iPad Pro users OR iPad Pro users are simply NOT reporting this issue enough here in these official Apple iPad support communities OR simply NOT posting enough feedback to Apple about this intermittent, unresponsive iPad Pro touch screen issue to alert the proper responsible and cognizant Apple employees and teams and get them working on this iPad Pro touch screen problem.

The best you can do is to continue to alert Apple to this growing issue and hammer the Apple iPad feedback pages mutiple times on this issue.

The only way to get Apple to, DIRECTLY, listen to you is to use their feedback portion of their website.

iPad Feedback

http://www.apple.com/feedback/ipad.html

Cognizant Apple employees read ALL feedback generated from all of the various feedback pages and transfers the data to the proper and responsible Apple teams and personnel , but NO Apple employees will ever respond with any type of direct, individual replies from the feedback you post.

You can post as much multiple feedback about this issue any time.

The more users that post product feedback about any product issue, the faster Apple is made aware and starts working on a fix/solution for a future software update.

As I stated, this intermittent, unresponsive iPad Pro touch screen issue has plagued a small, but growing minority of iPad Pro users across all 4 years of iPad Pro models for just about 18 months, now!

No!

That is what the exact problem is!

Apple support maybe lying about the diagnostic and/or covering up this unresponsive, intermittent touch screen issue.

Hence why this issue has continued for 18-months!

If they cannot catch the issue when it happens, they will not see this issue in a diagnostic.

You need to keep a video camera or phone camera handy so when this happens with your iPad Air, again, you need to take a video from another device and submit this video to Apple customer support next time.

With this intermittent, unresponsive touch screen issue, Apple Pencils seems to work fine, but actual finger touch functionality and freezing on-screen, virtual keyboard, using finger touch, is also, a problematic issue, as well!

Your new 2019 iPad Air has contracted this intermittent, unresponsive touch screen issue.

No doubts about that!

There is no safe zone, either

You may want to try using a third party Bluetooth keyboard/keyboard case or Apple's own smart keyboard cover instead of the on-screen iOS virtual keyboard.

See if that helps with getting around using any physical touch on the iPad's screen.

Until Apple actually works/ continues to works on and finds a solution to this touch screen problem, this touch screen issue will NOT go away and may get worse!

Your new 2019 iPad Air 3 is stuck with this intermittent, unresponsive touch screen issue, now!

Keep a camera with video capability handy and shoot a video of this issue when it happens, then contact Apple support, again, next time this happens.

You may have to ask Apple customer support how to get the video to them to be able to watch.

Apple customer support employees will NOT believe you until you show them actual proof.

If you have to, the next time you contact Apple support, if no joy from first tier support, politely ask to have your iPad issue escalated to higher tier/high level customer support employees.

Most 2019 iPad Air 3 models started having this intermittent, unresponsive touch screen issue early in the introduction of iPadOS 13, which was last September/October 2019.

It is a hardware/software problem that has been plaguing a growing minority of iPad Pro users, across all model years, for the past 18 months, or so.

For iPad Pro users, this issue started way back with either a late iOS 11 update OR with the introduction of iOS 12.

There is NO resolution for this from Apple, to date.

I would actually try and call Apple about this issue, as well.

Because actual Apple employees DO NOT read the user to user communities, they may not be aware of this continuing/growing issue, at all!

Calling them and having them check this out and escalate this issue up to more senior support staff will help Apple get more aware of this continuously growing issue.

If you purchased extended AppleCare+ for this 2019 iPad Air 3, you could call Apple customer service and politely demand that Apple replace this iPad Air 3 with another new one for the $49 U.S.D. replacement device fee under AppleCare+

But I fear the intermiitemt, unresponsive touch screen issue might/may return, at some point, in another new unit.

You may get lucky and get another iPad Air 3 that will NOT exhibit this issue, at all.

It's a gamble, but if you have AppleCare+, I would try for another replacement iPad Air 3.

I believe this to be an internal hardware issue/internal hardware flaw.

If you have extended AppleCare+ for this iPad Air 3 and go for another replacement iPad, take pictures of your current iPad both working and powered down and from every side and make sure it is packed for delivery with more than the return box that Apple will send to you to mail back your defective iPad.

Sorry & Good Luck to You!

And you are postmg this here why?

I know exactly what the issue of the intermittent, unresponsive touch screen issue is and what it looks like.

I do not work for nor represent Apple in anyway.

All of us here, including myself, are all just Apple product users helping other Apple product users, like you!

If you made a video of this and you know how to post this to YouTube this is what you need to tell Apple support when you contact them and send them a link to your YouTube video proof.

Posting the link to your video here does nothing and Apple support will not find the video here.

You will either need to email the YouTube video link direct to the actual Apple support employees or just vocalise the actual YouTube Weblnk to them so they Apple support can find this video on YouTube and watch it.

Apr 18, 2020 1:34 PM in response to vasanth193

Since, Apple will NOT admit this as an actual manufacturing defect ( this is what the free, one-year limited warranty covers ), you are stuck with this iPad.

You might have a case for Apple to issue you a replacement iPad If you can get a good video of this issue to send Apple support and find a way for Apple support to see this video so they makes decision on what they will do, or not do, for your malfunctioning iPad.

Good Luck!

Apr 19, 2020 7:59 AM in response to vasanth193

Okay, I watched your video.

It is hard to tell what is going on in your video from the extreme angle you shot this at!

Maybe you need to setup something to shoot the video more directly straight down, above your iPad’s screen and not at an extreme angle.

Because I cannot really see the touch screen freeze issue from the angle you shot and I suspect Apple support employees will not pick up on it either.

You need to shoot the video directly above the iPad's screen , so you can see very clearly what is happening.

The angle you shot this at really does not make clear what your iPad issue is.

Make up some sort of makeshift tool to shoot your iPad from directly above and not from an extreme amgle.
