The Facetime option is greyed out on group Imessages. I can facetime from phone contacts but not from the group message.
iPhone 6 Plus, iOS 12
First off, do you have a 6 Plus or a 6S plus? A 6 plus cannot do group Facetime.
Secondly, is this a group iMessage - all blue messages/all iPhones?

Lyssa is correct. You need an iPhone 6s to be able to group Facetime. For an iPhone 6, you can only get audio with a group. And if you see any green bubbles in the iMessage group, it means they are using a phone which isn't an iPhone. Blue bubbles mean iPhone. Green bubbles mean not iPhone. Anyone with a green bubble even if you could group Facetime (which you can't on iPhone 6) would not be able to participate as they would not have an iPhone.
Model Iphone 6 Plus. Not sure what you mean by all blue message. It's a group Imessage.
With a 6 Plus, I don't think you can start a group Facetime call. You can participate with audio only.
