Hi,
Thank You for your response. But with all due respect, that is almost the default answer for MacOS related issues. It kind of reminds of the Windows world when they used to solve all problems by rebooting the system. So I apologize for not mentioning that of course I reset the NVRAM. And to be honest I knew it was not going to resolve the problem. Let me describe the problem again. I use this adapter only when I'm home and in clamshell mode. I can plug this cable in on a sleeping system or a powered off system and either wake it or boot it and all works fine with one exception I'll explain later. Then randomly I will loose the audio while video is fine. There is no reproducible pattern when I loose the audio. The fix is always the same, unplug either the HDMI cable or the adapter itself and when I reconnect it comes back.
I mentioned there was one exception I have discovered with this adapter. When I do a power up of the laptop and the adapter is plugged in with the HDMI/monitor attached it does not see the monitor at all. I have to first log in using the laptop screen, it then finds the monitor, and I can close the lid and proceed in clamshell mode.
I am open to other suggestions.
Thank You
