accidentally upgraded to macOS Catalina

Hi folks!

Last week I accidentally upgraded my macOS to Catalina and it forced me to use Macintosh HD disk to run it. I ran previous OS on my SSD and all my files are on there. Now that all my files are in the SSD including the OS software. I tried to connect the SSD to my PC to see if I can take all the files out, but no hope. Would love to know how do I run my macOS on the SSD again? Please help!!! Thank you!!

Macs can Install on and boot from any appropriate disk, internal or external. If you did a software upgrade, it upgrades ONLY the disk you told it to install on. All others are left untouched.

If you installed on a different disk, it's pretty simple to go back to the Old MacOS and the old disk.

System Preferences > startup disk ...

select the disk you want to boot from

Click restart.

it will come up on whatever disk you decided to choose, running whatever MacOS you last installed on that specific disk.
