Photoshop App won't go into iMac Dock

I have a 5k 27" iMac. Mojave 10.14.6.

I've accidentally deleted my Photoshop 2020 app from the dock instead of the 2019 app. I did it by dragging it out the dock and it disappeared with a whoosh and smoke cloud. I then dragged the 2020 app from Finder Apps to the dock but it won't go in. The apps there won't move to allow a space. I can move apps within the Dock so that's ok. Apart from the Apple apps already there I only have PS-LR Classic and Google Earth but it would only be replacing like for like so not a case of the Dock reaching a limit. As an aside, I don't know why PS CC 2019 is in the Dock or Apps as well as 2020.

I've tried the following.

  1. Apple menu > Force Quit.. Select Finder and relaunch.

  1. Re-start computer.

3.Turn off computer and restart holding down Shift key until Apple logo shows.

All failed to resolve the issue.

Thanks.

Are you placing it in the left hand side of the Dock.

The Dock is split into three sections which are marked by a feint vertical line

so place apps in the left most section.

Also with older versions of Photoshop the app was within a Photoshop folder,

Photoshop CC 2020 may be the same.

so look in the Applications folder and make sure that you are using Adobe Photoshop CC.app

to put into the Dock and not the enclosing folder.

The screenshot below is of my Photoshop CS6 app inside a Photoshop CS folder in Applications,

Well what do you mean you can't see what I do.

Open a Finder window, click on Applications in the Sidebar,

Then change the View to List View using the third icon in the row of four grouped together.

see the screenshot below. I don't have Photoshop on this mac, but the screenshot shows you

how the Adobe Lightroom Classic.app is within a folder, drag the app into your Dock.

You should get to your mac, you paid a lot for it, and it won't bite.

Thank you for your reply. I recently signed up to LR Classic and as you probably know PS..Adobe Bridge etc comes with it . I've just tried to drag Adobe Bridge into the dock and that won't go either.

I think something has gone wrong in addition when I tried re-booting (is it ?) Re-start holding Shift key down until Apple logo shows and release because I've now lost sound (I have external speakers)and the the sound box in Systems Preferences is not live and when trying to move pages with arrow in the top grey bar of the page they jerk across the screen. I wanted to keep this page open re any replies but I'll unplug the iMac later and try that and hope it all goes back to normal.

Ah..I've just tried one of Apple's Apps that come with the iMac and Safari and iTunes when dragged from the App store will go into the dock (I already have them there but they would go in had I wanted them to. The other apps moved to make room so it looks like it might be what you say but I'm not good with software and can't see the same as your screen grab. I have a neighbour who is quite good but we're in the virus lock down,of course.
