Camera doesn't work from browser on windows 10

camera permissions are enabled and firewall is off:

I went back to checking the native camera app, it seem kind of flaky.

1. I tried changing the resolution in native camera app and then repeatedly get this error (the picture: from native camera app)
2. ALso, device manager -> scan for hardware change (the camera device disappears totally, not even an unsupported device)

No.

1. Boot into Mac, camera works fine
2. Boot into Windows, go to device manager, camera device status is "This device is working properly."
3. ProtorU website camera not working
4. Camera App working (sometimes if does NOT work reset app from apps & features -> camera -> advanced -> reset)

So, I'm not sure how to use event viewer, would like to tell me what exactly are we looking for?

I did manage to open the event viewer and found some USB/PNP related logs but those are like several weeks old.

Meanwhile, one of my neighbors finally found an Logitech Quickcam Communicate STX webcam from 2008, the drivers for it worked and the website (ProctorU) can pass the test now.

If possible I'd still like to root cause this, maybe help someone else later.

As suggested, I enabled hidden devices and the camera device was lurching there. Double clicking the device opens up message

That's correct I need to be booted in Windows for the exam.

Unfortunately firefox also the same result, I'm using firefox 75.0 (64-bit) and it shows as updated.

On loading the page (ProctorU), firefox asks for "Will you allow https://test-it-out.proctoru.com/ to use your camera. Camera to share FaceTime HD Camera"

I've clicked allow with remember settings but it doesn't work still.

Just to reiterate:

• camera app works fine, just none of the browsers do

1. Boot into Mac, camera works fine
2. Boot into Windows, go to device manager, camera device status is "This device is working properly."
3. Scan for hardware change, camera device gets hidden, device status is "Currently, this hardware device is not connected to the computer. (Code 45) To fix this problem, reconnect this hardware device to the computer."

Mac OS

1. ProctorU using is Chrome pass, can detect camera
2. Other apps (apple photo booth) and website camera works normally as far as I can tell

Windows 10

1. ProctorU not working on Chrome, FireFox, Edge
2. Other webcam test websites also don't work
3. Windows native app works
4. Skype setting can show video preview fine

Windows 10 other observations:

1. In scenarios such as scan hardware from device manager the camera driver gets disabled, restart makes it appear again (in device manager)
2. Native camera app stops working on changing resolution etc (reboot & camera reset from app makes it work again)
