Question: iPod touch support

Hi I am planning to buy an iPod touch 128gb for additional storage and to have something to use while my iPhone 11 pro max is charging or doing something else. But due to the upcoming release of the iPhone SE, I am torn between still purchasing an iPod touch or an iPhone SE. i am considering that iPhone SE will offer me a better gaming experience but i already have an iPhone.

this will really help me. How far are the battery life of iPod touch 7th gen and iPhone SE 2nd gen? Is the iPod touch the last iPod unit of it’s line? How long will apple support updates for the iPod touch?

replies to this query will be a big help. I’m leaning more on the iPod touch due to it’s price and portability.

Hello,

Battery performance will be similar between both devices. iPod touch (7th generation) is latest model of iPod touch. Apple does not announce their end-of-life plans for devices ahead of time. It is not unrealistic to expect that iPod touch (7th generation) will be supported for 5 years (starting with the date it was originally introduced). The biggest differences between iPod touch (7th generation) and iPhone SE (2nd generation) is that the iPhone has a larger display, faster internals, and significantly better cameras. I personally have an iPod touch (7th generation) and Apple Arcade performance is fantastic. I love how lightweight and small the device is. I also like that iPod touch does not require a cellular plan. With iPhone you must also subscribe to a cellular plan.

Note:

  • The iPhone has GPS and an accelerometer; the iPod has neither
  • The iPhone is bigger, thicker and heavier
  • The iPhone does not have a earphone jack
  • Only the iPhone has fingerprint log-in
  • (The iPhone does not require a cellular plan if you use it only for music or gaming via wi-fi)
