Only half of my photos transferred onto new phone

I got a new iPhone in December (11) an upgrade from my iPhone 7. When the data was transferred from my old phone to my new, everything came over except half of my camera roll. Only 900 of the 1800 photos and videos from my old phone came onto the new phone. I was wondering if there is anything I can do to get those remaining photos and videos back. I’ve tried looking on my iCloud account on the computer, but it only shows the photos that transferred onto my new phone. If anyone has any suggestions on what I should do to get those remaining items from my camera roll, that would be great.

Hello deanr710,

After reviewing your post, it sounds like some of the photos are transferring but not all of them. One thing you can do is to turn off iCloud Photos and wait a few minutes and turn it back on.

"How do I turn off iCloud Photos on only one device?

You can turn off iCloud Photos on a single device when you follow these steps:

  • On your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch, go to Settings > [your name] > iCloud > Photos, then turn off iCloud Photos.*"

"What if some of my photos and videos are missing after I turn on iCloud Photos?

Look for your missing photos and videos in the Recently Deleted album of your Photos app, and make sure that you sign in to iCloud with the correct Apple ID.

Any photos or videos you copy to your device through iTunes are not copied in iCloud Photos. To add your original, full resolution versions, follow these steps:"

Hi deanr710,

If you go to iCloud.com > Photos, do you see all of the photos there?

Are you using the same Apple ID on the new iPhone as the old iPhone?

"If you’re using iCloud.com on your iPhone or iPad, see Use Photos on iCloud.com on your iPhone or Use Photos on iCloud.com on your iPad."

Use Photos on iCloud.com on your computer

  1. "Make sure that the software is up to date on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch, your Mac, and your Apple TV.
  2. Set up iCloud on all of your devices. If you have a PC, download iCloud for Windows. Make sure that you're signed in to iCloud with the same Apple ID on all of your devices.
  3. Make sure that your device is connected to Wi-Fi."

Hi, and the other 900 photos were taken on my old iPhone 7 and a few older ones on my previous 5s, but most of the ones that didn’t transfer over were taken on my 7. The photos weren’t stored on anything else that I am aware of, but before I got this new phone all of my photos were in iCloud and it said the backup was successful.
