My iTunes keeps on copying all my photos onto my iPhone instead of only the new ones.

I have certain Photo albums synced onto my iPhone already. I had about 8 new photos that I had moved onto one of the checked folders. In the past, iTunes would only copy the new ones onto the iPhone. But now, it is re-copying every single photo that is already synced on my iPhone. Does anyone know what's going on and how I can fix it?

I have an iPhone 7 Plus, and I am on a PC with Windows 10. I have iTunes version 12.10.6, which is currently the newest update (but this has been going on before the newest update).

Thanks in advance. I've attached a screenshot.

Hello, these are the steps I take for 99% of my photos (the other 1% are pictures I dl'ed from the web)

1) Take pictures with iPhone, which are now in the Camera Roll.

2) Connect iPhone to PC. Windows 10's Photos app is used to import the pictures.

3) I put these pictures into various folders.

4) Out of those various folders, I have selected some folders to be in my iPhone.

These are the steps that I've been taking for over 9 years, and only recently has this re-copying problem existed.

I would love to solve this issue, as I want to continue to sync my photos to my iPhone through iTunes. I do not wish to use iCloud or sync my photos manually.

Hey kms82,

If I understand this correctly, you're seeing the same photos being synced again along with new photos that you added on your device. Is that right? If yes, then I believe that I can help you.

Did all these photos come from one app on your iPhone or multiple apps? The app or utility you have chosen to import the photos that were captured by your iPhone may be responsible for this behavior. If that's the case, this would be no different from importing photos from any digital camera.

Check out this resource to learn more about how you can use iTunes to transfer photos and videos from your computer to your iPhone: Keep your photos safely stored and up to date on all of your devices

Do you recall making copies of your photos as shown on this article here? Archive or make copies of the information you store in iCloud

I hope the articles that I provided were helpful, and let me know if you have any additional questions.

Cheers!
