Instagram not accessing recent photos on iPhone

I just installed Instagram on my iphone so I could upload photos, since this apparently cannot be done on the Mac. When I hit the + to view and add photos to Instagram, only very old LIBRARY photos are appearing en masse and the most recent are not. The RECENT PHOTOS folder has non-recent photos in it. Why can't Instagram access my current recent photos?

I have made sure the 'access photos' is turned on for Instagram in settings.

I have rebooted the phone several times and it has the latest version.

Welcome to the Apple Support Communities. I understand that Instagram is having issues with accessing recent photos. I'll do what I can to help or point you to there right place.

These suggestions might help:

Try sharing a photo with a different app or check the Photos app yourself to see if the Recents are appearing properly.
