MacBook Pro 16": Weird broad vertical bar on display

Hey, gang! It's the strangest thing - and I only noticed it about a week ago. My machine was manufactured in early November 2019. Everything about it is flawless - apart from a broad, vertical bar that has now started appearing onscreen. It's only really visible on a white background. As you can see in the image (taken with my iPhone), that's what I'm dealing with. Depending on my TrueTone or Nightshift settings, it changes colour ever so slightly. It's not impacting the functioning of the display in any way. When I boot up in Recovery Mode, at that transition just before it loads the Recovery screen, the display turns white. Then the bar isn't there at all; the display is perfectly and completely white. At first I thought it was image retention, but obviously it's not. It somehow seems to be software related. Could that be? Have any of you experienced something similar? Help!

It’s nice to meet you Carelfc,

The Apple Support Communities really appreciate this post. Based on your description, you’re having issues with a vertical line that appears on your display. I wasn't able to see that vertical line in the photo your shared but I do have some great troubleshooting steps to recommend.

First, a restart can resolve intermittent issues: How to turn your Mac on or off

I recommend booting into safe mode, logging in and testing to see if the issue persists. You can find the steps for safe mode located here: How to use safe mode on your Mac

If you’re still noticing issues after safe mode, check to see if this is something that's isolated to just your user on your Mac, or if it's system-wide. Please use these steps to create a new user on your Mac: How to test an issue in another user account on your Mac

Which macOS version are you using? If you’re not using macOS 10.15.4, it may be a good idea to update: How to update the software on your Mac

Best regards.

Hello! Thank you so much for the reply. Here you can see what I mean. The clear white image is what I get when I boot into recovery mode. The second image is of a white screen when I'm logged in normally. The colour of the broad bar varies according to the time of day given the combo of Truetone and Nightshift. I don't think it's hardware related.
