Apple Card Installment plan and trade-in value revised.

My new iPhone 11 PRO was purchased with the 0% Apple Card Installment plan, my trade in value changed how will I be billed for the difference?

I got an email saying "The condition of your device has been verified, and your trade-in value has been revised." I went online and it said I would be charged the difference of $245 if I accepted the new terms.

Unlike previously, the Installment plan is based on the price after the trade-in not before and the sales tax paid is based upon the price after trade-in not before.

The statement did not mention the extra sales tax or even if there would be any.

Also, after calling Apple, they didn't know how this would work either.

Note: I am posting this at the request of the Apple support specialist. There was no way for me to tell her what happened, as neither of us were sure. She was great by the way. I will provide the answer below.

Well, everything did work out a way that makes sense. I guess.

The Original Numbers:

iPhone 11 Pro with AppleCare+: $1,548.00

Less Apple Trade In Value: $320.00

Total: $1,228.00

Monthly Payment via Apple Card $51.16/mo. for 24 mo. at 0% APR

I was also charged sales tax to my Apple Card: $85.96 (7% of $1,228).

Then, I got the notification that my Trade in Value was changed to $75 and I would be charged the difference of $245 if I accepted the new terms. After trying to figure out exactly what was going to happen I went ahead and hit accept. No mention of the addition of the extra sales tax or if my Monthly Payment would change or if I had to pay the $245 all at once.

What happened: After a few weird emails(one that showed I was actually getting the full $320) and a few days. I went online to see the result, it said I would be charged $245 + $17.15 sales tax for a total of $262.15. It still wasn't exactly clear if this would change the installment plan. It wasn't even clear it would charge my "Apple Card" or bill me separately. It still took several days for anything to happen on the "Apple Card", finally, there was a single charge of $262.15 to the Apple Card. So my original payment plan based upon the $320 trade in was still the same. (Still $1,228 ➗ 24 months.) Just because this happened this way, to me, doesn't mean it won't change. It was a lot less complicated when I just got a credit after the trade-in.

Also in the process the order for the iPhone has completely disappeared from my Account entirely and only shows the trade-in value of $75. Apparently, the system needs a little more work.
