Screenshot Not Working on IPad Pro 2020

No matter how many times I try, I cannot get my new IPad Pro 2020 to take a screenshot by pressing the top and volume up buttons. I have tried at least fifty times this morning and keep getting the power off screen. It does work with Assistive Touch but, if possible, I would like to figure out how to do it without the accessibility features as I don’t like AssistiveTouch being on my screen all the time. Is there a setting I’m missing? Can someone help?

If you are getting the power off screen, you are holding down the buttons too long.

Its just a quick press and release of both. You don't need to hold them down.

Easiest way to do this, is to press the volume up button, and then quickly press the top button and release them both immediately.
