O.MG and similar malware/spyware cables

Since these cables look similar to the official Apple lightning cable out of the box, is it possible to know you are using one of them and/or which is stealing personal data from your Mac (Catalina, Mojave, or older)?

Does your iPhone could also get infected, and transmit the malware to other Macs even without using it?
