AGaramond font missing - solution
I've seen this reported here several times, a bug involving fonts. Most replies indicate there is no solution. I found a solution, I'd like to document it here (I also created a ticket for Apple):
I opened an older Word document in Pages, was warned fonts were missing (AGaramond). I couldn't find a replacement for that font in the list of fonts. A search in these forums revealed it is a hidden font.
On May 24, 2018 VikingOSX wrote this solution (I have put my amendments in brackets):
"Apple installs the Garamond TrueType collection (.ttc) by default when the operating system is installed. This location is not, however, in the normal search path for fonts.
"Click on your Desktop to make Finder active, and then press shift+command+G to open the Go To Folder… dialog. Copy and paste the following into the Go To Folder dialog, and then click GO.
/Library/Application Support/Apple/Fonts/iWork
"A Finder window will open in the above folder. Locate Garamond.ttc, right-ciick on it, and select the secondary menu item "Copy Garamond.ttc." Press shift+command+G again, and copy/paste the following, followed by clicking GO again.
~/Library/Fonts
"This is your local font library. [In Finder, press back arrow to go back to the previous Library folder, copy Garamond.ttc." In Finder press forward arrow to get back to the Fonts folder.] Right-click, and paste "Garamond.ttc."
"Garamond should now appear on your Outlook font menu. If it doesn't then reboot, and look again."
[If the font still doesn't appear, open up Apple's Font Book app. Choose "Validate File" from File menu. You will have to locate the folder you placed Garamond into (above). Select the font file and press Open to validate the file. This should do it.]
Hope this helps.
