No-one here will know what Apples plans are for their applications, the folk here are users of Apple products just like yourself.

Apple does not support SVG files, so you will need to convert to another filetype such as TIFF PDF or PNG

Quick and simple way to do this is open the SVG in Safari then go to File > Print then click the PDF dropdown and select: save as PDF

If the SVG has a transparent background, the Safari export to PDF, or print to PDF solutions will result in a white background.

if one has imagemagick installed via a package manager (e.g. homebrew), then one can convert image formats and retain transparent background via the Terminal command-line:

/usr/local/bin/convert -background none ~/Pictures/awake.svg ~/Desktop/awake.png

If one is doing this on a frequent basis, then purchasing Affinity Designer might be reasonable, as it can open SVG, and export with[out] background to TIFF, PDF, PNG, and PSD formats.
