Cannot past screensshot to finder folder

I want to take screenshots to the clipboard and paste them into a folder (different folders all the time so a default folder won't solve my issue)

I can paste them into emails and imessage but not folders.

Any idea of a way to do exactly this? *paste screenshot into folder*

Thanks

You can not paste to a folder, without saving the image first— therefore save to Desktop, then move to your preferred folder.

Thank you! what a ****** system adding extra steps. Tedious that you can paste into email and messages without "saving first"

A folder is not a file—folders hold files; and email is a file, a message is a file.

Save the image and you can move it anywhere you want.

If you think this is "tedious" and should be different somehow then send Apple Feedback http://www.apple.com/feedback

a folder is not a file? No idea where this came from.

The way you think is fine:

take screenshot (auto save to folder) - navigate to screenshot saving folder - copy screenshot file - navigate to other folder - paste screenshot file

The way that seems far more logical

take screenshot to clipboard - navigate to folder - paste screenshot file

This works

take screenshot to clipboard - open new email - paste screenshot file into email

take screenshot to clipboard - open imessage - paste screenshot into message

This does not

take screenshot to clipboard - open folder - paste into folder.

Justify it all you want it doesn't make sense.

Thank you again for the quick response.
