Apple ID on iPhone SE (2020)

After setting up my new phone -- including setting a new Apple ID password from my desktop Mac -- the SE continues to reject the new password.


On SE "Settings" an alert says "Update Apple ID Settings: Some account services will not be available until you sign in again". But when I enter the new AID password, the gearwheel cranks for 60 seconds, then a "Verification Failed" message appears with no explanatory info. The password is working fine on my desktop Mac and my iPad.


Software version also inaccessible


Desktop: Catalina 10.15.4

iPhone SE (2020): 13.4.1

iPhone SE, iOS 13

I have had this temperamental situation with my old SE. Have you checked it isn't mucking up your Apple ID itself? Sometimes that has happened to me... I don't know how, but it has!


It maybe a question of keep trying. That was the case with me too, even though it insisted first attempts were with a wrong password!

Solved! And I think -- but can't be totally sure because of the many suggestions I tried! -- the effective suggestion had to do with my wi-fi network: (1) I turned off wi-fi in Settings, (2) shut down the phone for 10 minutes, (3) restarted the phone and turned wi-fi back on, (4) re-entered Apple ID user/password, and (5) VOILA!!!


(But why has this issue remained for so many years, Apple???)
