USB to USB C Adapter not Working - MacBook Air 2020

I just upgraded to a 2020 MacBook Air. The new computer came with USBC ports instead of USB ports making it impossible for me to use my Logitech Mouse and Seagate 1 TB external Hard Drive. I ordered two USB to USBC adaptors from Amazon. When I first installed them, they worked, but after a few minutes, they stopped. If I unplugged the adaptor, it would work again for a few minutes and then stop altogether. I thought it might be the adapter, so I had the seller replace them. Same issue with the new adapters. These are single USB to USBC adapters made by Syntech. This issue occurred regardless of which device was attached via the adaptor.

1) Has anyone else had similar issues with adapters not working or working intermittently on the new MacBook Air

2) Is the issue of the adaptor not working a hardware (computer or adaptor), a software (MacOS Catalina 10.15.4), or a device issue? If it is a device or adaptor error, it should be an easy fix.

Thank you in advance.

James

Hey there jrisk

Thanks for reaching out to Apple Support Communities. I understand your USB to USB-C adapters are not working as expected. I’ll be happy to help with this.

In the event of issues not working as expected with your USB-C port, disconnect the adapter and do an SMC reset on your Mac and see if this helps.
