Now that Audacity won't work on current version of MacOS, what's a good third party app for converting files and easily editing them? Apple Music is "iffy" about converting files and in any case won't convert to the 320 Kbps files I use.

Yes, Music can convert to MP3 320. In the Import Settings, choose MP3 Encoder. When you click Custom, a new dialog comes up where you can select the bit rate of 320. See screenshot below.

Yes. It was in my "Downloads" folder; now in my iTunes Media folder. This happens to me all the time. I usually use Audacity to convert, but Audacity won't work with new upgrade. :( Using another app now called "To MP3 Converter"
OK, I added it to a Playlist in Apple Music and now "Show in Finder" is black and so is the option to convert to an mp3. I just created a Playlist, added the wav file and suddenly the options are there. I don't understand why and I have not been able to find that anywhere in "Help".
Thanks for all that, but I've been there and there is no 320 option. 192 is the highest I've seen. And it's moot anyway because "convert" is grayed out most of the time. And it can't be a copyright problem because all the wav files belong to me. Do you have any other suggestions? Like how I can get "Convert" to not be grayed out? I'd settle for 192 if I have to.

I take that back; tonight 320 showed up in my options for import. That's never happened before.
Yes, they are local. I might have been misleading. "Convert" is black, but options under it are grayed out.

Are you sure the WAV file is local? Can you see it by using "Show in Finder"?
"Show In Find" appears to be grayed out all the time. But I opened the file via "Finder".

Good. Yes, 320 is a choice once you get into the Custom settings for the MP3 Encoder.
Are the WAV originals still greyed out? Make sure they are local audio files, not copies in the cloud. Also, although not absolutely required, it is usually more reliable if they have a typical sample rate (44.1 kHz) and sample size (16) instead of unusual values.
OK, because "Show in Finder" was gray in your clip. Is the Convert available now that the file is "properly" located, in iTunes Media?
Yup, if Show in Finder is gray, iTunes/Music does not know where the file is, even if it does exist somewhere. But once it is in the right place, you can convert it to MP3.... at 320 kbps! :-)
