My HomePod keeps disappearing from my automations

my HomePod keeps disappearing from my automations.

I'll set it up as an accessory to play music and after a couple of days it has been removed as an accessory from all automations.

Yes I did read all your comments.

Just saying a reset might help fix it. I’m not sure what’s causing this. It only happened on mine for awhile, then the latest HomePod update seemed to fix it . Check your HomePod is on 13.4 and you’re using the correct Apple ID.

In the Home App long press on the HomePod, tap on the gear icon to bring up settings and scroll down to software update to see which you’re on or if it needs an update.

On 28 April, I posted on this trail that I was having similar issues with HomeKit automations, involving HomePod performing certain activities, disappearing from HomeKit shortly after they have been set up. I did more research into this issue on the internet. All seem to say to update the iOS devices to the latest version including for the HomePod. One suggested setting up a scene separately and then use HomeKit automation to call up that scene. Tried all these in the past week with no luck. Restarted the HomePod and AppleTV (4th gen) ... any iDevices which used the same Apple ID .... still no luck.

Then last night I tried setting up an automation ... not giving up yet. I set up separate scenes for the HomePod to play from various radio stations ... wondering when these scenes would disappear from my HomeKit. I set up an automation to start playing one of the radio stations for the next morning as a wake up alarm.

Surprisingly, I woke up to the HomePod playing that radio station this morning. And all the scenes that I have set up for other radio stations are still available on my iOS device's Home app.

I noticed something odd for a brief moment in one of my iOS devices in that it didn't have some of the scenes listed. It wasn't the device that I had set up those scenes with. Later, when I checked again, they had appeared. I wonder if that device got an update from my Apple ID.

Sorry for the long post. But just want to share my observations. So HomePod automations are now working for me after a week of frustrations. Not sure what the exact trick was to get it working. And not sure if the scenes and HomePod automations will hang around.

Check this website out ... looks like the HomePod can't be integrated into HomeKit scenes and automations ... but this article is more than a year old and probably based on an older version of the operating system.

But we have been able to set up automations involving HomePod, just that they disappear after a while. So may be the functionality is there, just that Apple has not sorted out all the bugs and we are having this issue of disappearing HomePod automations.

Ok Grumpy, you actually did not say you had updated the HomePod to iOS 13.4. IOS 13 is not the same.

It’s possible a recent iOS update to the device linked to Homepod might have a bug that's caused this issue. iPhone 8 is on 13.4.1 now.

No, I don’t have a solution. We give suggestions that might help and I’m not inclined to offer other ideas since it might not be a “solution”.

Same here since this morning. Homepods disappeared from all scenes. Scenes involving only a homepod disappeared.

I had this problem before last year, and after 4-5 times it stopped happening until now. Nothing changed, no new devices, no logins/logouts/.

The only thing that I did was enabling the wifi on an old iPad2 that I use as a picture frame.

When it happened last year, it was around the time I set up the old iPad as a picture frame.

So it seems - in my case - that getting this old iPad on the network triggers something.
