Greetings Apple community. after upgrading from Mojave to Catalina 10.15.4, my mid 2014 MacBook Pro 15 inch no longer allows to drag and drop items onto the dock. Have tried many ways including restarting, restarting in safe mode, then reverting back to normal mode. And finally resetting all dock preferences from the terminal app. If anyone knows how to fix this problem please provide some support. Cheers.

started by trying to add a link by dragging and dropping it on the dock. soon realized adding anything by dragging and dropping does not work. so basically adding items, ultimately with drag and drop to the dock. thanks for the quick reply.
I just tried the link and it also worked. You have to drop it on the desktop before dragging it to the Dock. After this and learning how to change icons my dock is fancy as ****. feels like a new mac. thanks again. Looking forward to contributing to these discussions one day. Cheers.
I just tried dragging a link to the Dock and it did work this time. I don't know why it wouldn't work before.
When you drag, make sure you are dropping on right side of the Dock divider.
What are you dragging the item onto? An app, a folder, or just onto the Dock?
I don't see a problem with any of those.
I've never dragged a link there, and it doesn't work for me, but other items work.
I just tried adding an application and it worked. However, adding a link is supposed to work according to SnazzyLabs' tips in the link. He shows some useful tips. Thanks for the help.
