Watch activity data doesn't match on friend's Activity tracker

2 iPhones and 2 Apple Watches

With a friend and participating in a Competition on the Activity App in the Sharing tab.

The data doesn't match across both devices.

I've been using the friend's activity competition sharing thing. But after a workout, we noticed that our data doesn't match on each other's phones.

Like I would go for a walk and my phone would show 10,000 steps, but when I compared to the data on my friend's phone, it would show a different number?

You'd think when I click "done" on my work out and the message that gets sent to my friend saying I worked out the data I have on my phone would be the same that shows up on their phone in their activity summary page.

I feel like this might be more of a feedback issue, and QA needs to look into it more. But I was curious if anyone else has seen this and knows if there is a fix for it.

Why you might ask? Because I hate dirty data. The data should be the same, unless it was designed to share different results. Which doesn't make sense.

Thanks

Hello kilgrey and welcome to Apple Support Communities.

I see you are facing some challenges with the Activity Sharing feature of an Apple Watch.

Start by ensuring that both you and your friend are running the most current versions of iOS and watchOS. As of the time of this post that would mean iOS 13.4.1 and watchOS 6.2.1.

Update your Apple Watch - Apple Support

If and when you are both updated, both of you should sign out of iCloud, reboot all devices and then sign back in. You'll do this at Settings > [your name] > iCloud.

As Activity Sharing depends on iCloud for transmitting data between users, if these steps do not resolve the issue, you'll want to reach out directly to Apple Support so that possible account-based issues can be addressed

Cheers.
