Macbook Pro 2018: Color difference on display of uniform colors

Hi

I have a macbook pro 2018 (15 inch) which has started to display a dark shade over areas of uniform color, like this below, where there is dark shade on the white area. It is present in all colors and I can even see it now on non-uniform areas. Can I do anything about it? I have never used any chemicals on the display for cleaning.

søren20,

Thank you for reaching out at Apple Support Communities today. If I understand correctly, you’re experiencing issue where some of your display has a shadowy, or darker, area than expected. It looks like this may be in the same place regardless of what is displaying on the screen, but you notice it more when it’s a uniform lighter color. Does this sound right?

If it’s not always in the same area, is it possible that the issue is related to image persistence?

If not, have you tried any troubleshooting to see if you can resolve it? Things like restarting, testing in safe mode and in a new user to see if it persists, and logging into macOS Recovery to access Safari from there will help you narrow it down between a software and hardware issue on your MacBook Pro.

Hi

Thank you for your suggestions and observations. The difference is always in the same area, so it is probably not related to image persistence. I've tried booting to safe mode and with a different user as well but without any luck. I've also tried resetting the SCM and the nvram/pram.

So I've contacted an authorized repair center and they will have a look at it.

Thanks again
