Invalid IMEI

I am changing service provider and wish to use my phone with the new service provider but the old provider is saying that the IMEI number for my phone is invalid and they cannot unlock the phone to the new provider. This phone is a warranty replacement as the original developed a fault after eight months and the phone was replaced at an Apple shop about three years ago.

Any Ideas?

Hello Pwaggo,

Thanks for asking the Apple Support Communities about unlocking your device for use with a new provider.

The provider the device is locked to is the only one that can unlock it. How to unlock your iPhone for use with a different carrier - Apple Support

If the provider is mentioning they have issues with the replacement device, you may need to get into contact with whomever replaced the device. There may be something with the serial number that needs to be corrected. If the device was replaced by Apple, please contact AppleCare: Contact - Official Apple Support

If the device was replaced by the insurance company or other provider, please contact them. Thanks and have a wonderful day.
