internet recovery on macbook pro mid 2013 NOT working

I was cleaning up my wife's MacBook Pro, deleting all the disks info and was going to reinstall the OS. In Disk Utility, I erased Machintosh HD. While attempting to reinstall the OS, my wife couldn't remember her Apple ID, so when prompted to enter the ID, I clicked the 'forgot' option. The unit staring loading "Connecting to the App Store" (or something to that effect) and froze. Nothing was happening for a while. So, I restarted the unit (which now I understand was very stupid), as I think I deleted the OS as well? ? ?

Now, I am faced with a flashing (?) folder and white screen. I have attemped the internet recovery several times in different modes : 1) holding Option-Command-R while booting up 2) holding 'Option' key while booting up. After connecting to my wi-fi (which is compatible), it tries to recover, and after few minutes just shuts down. That's the evil circle I am in now.

ANY suggestions on how to solve this?

Everything was working fine before I erased the disks' data. The current OS on the unit is (was?) OS X Yosemite.

THANKS ! Hope this can re salvageable!
