Macbook charger light not showing.

The yellow/green light that appears during charging of Macbook Pro Mid-2012 just stopped glowing. While the charging bolt symbol appeared on the screen, it wasn't increasing the battery percentage.

I then changed the plug of my Macbook charger with the long extension chord that apple provides and now it works fine but I'm afraid the problem might reappear.

Also, I've constantly had "Service Battery" warning on my mac and even after fixing the warning by methods mentioned on the forum, it reappears. Has this got something to do with the problem.

Please help me as I don't want the problem to become big as I can't afford a new laptop at this moment.

MacBook Pro 13", macOS 10.13

Please review this HT Apple Portables: Troubleshooting MagSafe adapters - Apple ...

You can try Try resetting the SMC https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201295

If your battery needs service—Change the Battery ! Full stop.

-------------------------------------------------

The <Macbook Pro Mid-2012> is old enough for the DC in-board to start failing/wearing out.

This is a separate and replaceable component for some ~160.00 USD parts and labor.

The lights on the magsafe connector get the signal from the controller and logicboard feeding the appropriate light color change.

in relation to its charging status.

You can try a slightly different angle of attachment/reverse the direction/apply a little pressure/ etc.

The Duck Head Adapters can fail. I personally like the AC Cord much better.

Also unplug your charger from the electrical outlet for a minute to reset the charger's internal circuitry. Sometimes the charger can get into a weird mode especially if you had a power issue with the Duck Head Adapter or the laptop.

"Service Battery" means the battery has an internal fault and it should be replaced.

I highly recommend having Apple replace the battery since the quality of third party Lithium-ion batteries is extremely poor even when purchased from a reputable vendor such as OWC.
