CANNOT TYPE ON SAFARI SEARCH PAGE

When I click on Safari icon, the search page opens, but is inoperable. It will not accept any typing whatsoever.

Thanks

Try a restart.

Restart your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch

Try a forced restart.

Reset Device.

If necessary

Hard reset.

Do a backup and try a factory reset. Then restore from your backup.

Restore to Factory setting.

Backup - Restore your device from an iCloud or iTunes backup.

You can't delete and reinstall Safari. If you do a factory reset, that will install a new version of Safari.

There are other IOS browsers available. Go to the App Store to find/download a different browser.

Instructions for doing a backup. See the Apple Support article(s) below.

I went through forced restart with no results. Don’t understand “hard reset” and am concerned with restoring just to solve the Safari issue. Do I have a choice of using an alternative to Safari? An Safari be deleted and reinstalled? I really need a solution that doesn’t include possibly losing all of my data.

Thanks so much for your response.

I still can’t use Safari. Regardless of a reset and forced reset, the search page still doesn’t accept typing on the page. I don’t know if I have the expertise to do a factory reset and backup from the cloud. I don’t know if my data is fully backed up.

Can I use an alternative to Safari as my browser? I hate to do that because I also have a new iPad and Mac Air, but I don’t know if If I have a choice. Is there a way to delete and reinstall Safari.

Please help.
