First generation iPAD pro is black, cannot restart

Connect to power, battery indicator does not come on. Reset with start and home buttons does not work. Does not show up in finding on iMac Catalina. Used different charging venues that all worked on my iPhone, cleaned the connectors, trying reset at least ten times and the iPad is still dead. Could be bittery or charging system or incompatible iOS?
