Screen Time Password in iCloud Keeps Returning

I'm going to try and be as clear as possible, because I've had this issue for awhile and can't find a solution.

I have four main devices:

  1. 2017 Macbook Pro
  2. iPhone XR
  3. iPad Pro (10.5)
  4. Apple Watch (Series 3)

My wife's iCloud account is the organizer for our family. In order to share purchases, we use Family Sharing. I'm listed as a Parent/Guardian. At some point in the past, I used Screen Time and "shared across devices." I have purchased all new devices since that point, but would like to use Screen Time again and share across devices.

The problem is that when I do this and type in a new passcode, Screen Time immediately reverts to the passcode that I used previously on past devices (and which I can't remember). The only way to fix the issue is to do a full restore on my device. But as soon as I try again, it reverts to the forgotten Screen Time passcode that it has apparently saved in the cloud. This is only for my devices and doesn't affect my family's devices.

Here's what I've tried:

  1. I've tried removing all old devices from my iCloud account.
  2. I've tried removing myself from our Family Sharing, resetting all of my devices to factory, and then resetting things up from scratch (not even using an iPhone/iPad restore).

None of these work since the Screen Time passcode is saved in the cloud apparently and just resets to the stored passcode as soon as I click "share across devices."

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

If you have forgotten your Screen Time passcode, remember there is no limit on number of attempts.

Regarding your data, If…

  1. You have an iCloud or iTunes backup, I am sorry there is no use of a backup because if you restore from your backup your Screen Time Passcode will be back.
  2. You have synced your data to iCloud, then what you will get back is what you have synced to iCloud and uploaded to iCloud Drive; like the information that are synced and stored in iCloud are, Contacts, Calendars, Bookmarks, Mail, Notes, Voice Memosshared photosiCloud Photos*, Health data, call history, and files you store in iCloud Drive. (*-If you had turned on iCloud Photos, your content is automatically stored in iCloud.)
  3. You have imported your Photos & Videos to Mac/PC then they are safely residing there
  4. You have uploaded some of it Cloud Drives using Files app (iCloud Drive, Google Drive, OneDrive, DropBox, Flickr, box, AmazonDrive, Adobe Creative Cloud etc)
  5. You have not imported nor you have synced nor uploaded your data to cloud drives prior to forgetting the Screen Time passcode then I am sorry, all your data is lost.
