upgrade to El Capitan

Dear Sir or Madam

I hope you are well.I can't install El Capitan on 2009MacBook Pro5,3because my Macintosh HD can't be used as startup disk so could anyone explain me why?I have3.06GHZ CPU and8GB1067MHZ DD3RAM.Serial Number(system)W8*****64C.Operating system Snow Leopard10.6.8I have NVIDIA GeForce9400M256MB VRAM and NVIDIA GeForce9400MGT512MB VRAM and iSight camera.I have read some people can't use the iSight camera after upgrading to El Capitan from Snow Leopard10.6.8If my iSight camera not working on El Capitan do I need to get driver?Are there any applications in the Utilities folder for calibrating the iSight camera?Do I need debugging if the image upside down on the iSight camera?Are there any forums for calibrating the iSight camera on different operating systems and different web browsers?I kindly ask you help me,please.Thank you so much for your attention.I would greatly appreciate your consideration

Please make sure the version of Snow Leopard you are running is 10.6.8, now open the App Store

and go to Updates and check to see if there are any other updates outstanding that you may need before upgrading

to El Capitan.

You do not need Mountain Lion, you can upgrade directly from Snow Leopard to El Capitan,

please read this document from Apple. Use Safari as your browser.

Read Section 1.

How to upgrade to OS X El Capitan – Apple Support

Go to Section 4 and click on Download OS X El Capitan.

This downloads InstallMacOSX.dmg to your Downloads folder.

When downloaded open to InstallMacOSX.pkg, double-click on

that and an installation window will open, this does not install El Capitan

but converts the .pkg to the Install OS X El Capitan.app which you will find in

your Applications folder, it should be 6.2GBs in size.

To start the installation of El Capitan double click on the Install OS X El Capitan.app.

The copy of the install app self deletes after installing El Capitan, so make sure you keep a copy of the InstallMacOSX.dmg

if you need it in future, or you could just make a copy of the Install OS X El Capitan.app prior to installing and moving it to

an external drive for safe keeping.

Hello,

You cannot upgrade directly from macOS 10.6 Snow Leopard to macOS 10.11 El Capitan. You will need to update to at least macOS 10.8 Mountain Lion in order to update to macOS 10.11. Alternatively you can erase your Mac’s hard disk using Disk Utility however this will erase any information stored on the disk.

Did you check with the AppStore to see if there are any outstanding updates that you might require.

Can you open Disk Utility from your Applications/ Utilities and run Verify on your Disk,

to check for any errors. If you find any errors you will need to have your Snow Leopard install

DVD handy, because you will need to boot to that and use Disk Utility there to correct any disk errors.

To boot to the DVD you need to Restart your mac while pressing the C key.

What is this disk0s1, any ideas.

Many thanks for your reply. I have Snow Leopard 10.6.8and I started the installation but I can't use my Macintosh HD as start up disk and I don't know why? I attached a screen grab about my problem.
