iPhone XS Max full memory Error 14

I’ve got a serious problem with my iPhone XS Max 256 Gb

It started when my phone memory was full and it was working too slowly. I rebooted it, and it got stuck in a boot loop (apple logo). I then tried to put in in Recovery Mode and update it via Mac/PC (It did not have the latest iOS). The upgrade failed halfway through with Error 14. Then I opened the iPhone and disconnected the LCD etc., but still, Error 14 appeared when I was trying to upgrade. Now it is stuck in Recovery Mode.

I've read a lot of messages from people who have the same problem! We need a skeleton IOS for this situation! Apple have really made a mistake in allowing a phone to reach such a full capacity

It is a tragedy to lose my photos and videos!!! There are the best moments of my life in this locked phone! I need help!

Support service recommended me to restore my phone with no opportunity to save my data! That’s completely impossible! My photos and videos were an integral part of my life. There should be the way out! Help me, please!

My Iphone XS was stuck in apple logo because I updated some application from app store. My full storage was almost full. I don’t have backup of my data, apple engineers please come up with a solution for error 14 while updating IOS firmware.

I really don’t want to lose my data it is all my memories from 2018 to 2021.

Do you need to download the firmware for the last iOS you were using?

I can't remember the last iOS update I made. Will downloading 14.2 work as a hack for this in any case?

Also, is there anyway to physically extract the data even if it means not saving the phone? My phone is already 3 years old, and I'm really most concerned about saving my data but my storage was too full when the phone crashed.

Any insight would be super helpful! Thanks in advance

Hi, all.

Wanted to share my experience on this. At some point, one of my iPhone 11 pro max has stuck in the same situation: too much photos, the phone was complaining on the space and after reboot it has stuck on an upgrade with error 14.

For me all ended in a good way! :)

Tried several times through iTunes on several Windows machines, tried 3rd party software with custom images. No result - all of them failed with the same error. 3rd party was showing detailed error, iTunes was just showing error 14.

But. In the very end, I tried to do the restore on MAC/iTunes. And it worked!!!! After the upgrade there was a status "Attempting to restore data" for a short period - and shortly after I had all my precious photos back :)

So, in the nutshell, the key is not the cable and not the 3rd party(really no need to pay) - try it on different computers and be persistent.

If you don't have a MAC - maybe your friends do - just like in my case. I don't know what was the key difference - the Mac or just another computer, or just a LOT of attempts.

Keep trying - don't settle :) Good luck to everyone!

“....If you restore, you will lose all your data ....”

Maybe. The process of recovery when frozen will usually have the following option...

“When you get the option to restore or update, choose Update. Your computer will try to reinstall iOS or iPadOS without erasing your data.”

So maybe the Mac will allow update where PC will insist on restore. Just a possibility worth trying if you can borrow a Mac.

Probably grasping at straws tho.

Yes - exactly. Just like in my case - many attempts on Windows - then success on Mac. Maybe the key is to try on Win, then try on Mac, maybe the key is try a lot of times on Win, then try on Mac, maybe it's just Mac that works (but I don't think so - I've read about similar issues on mac as well).

As we don't know the underlying processes - we can't tell what exactly works, but for everyone stuck with memory full on iOS 14 upgrade I would suggest keep trying to perform the update on different computers with different OS (Win - Mac).

I have tried Everything, everything to restore my data, from downloading promising software to even forensic data recovery and none could help.

ONLY THE SOFTWARE DEVELOPERS meaning you APPLE!!

I have so many precious memories which are priceless to me and I am not okay with letting them go, when APPLE can please do a sympathy software for all the many that are in this situation!!!

I understand everyone needs to backup their photos which I do them in a old fashion way saving them in a hard drive. You can not in force to do it in a particular way. For my luck my ICloud was completely full with pictures that I already had saved in my hard drive from my desktop and ipad and none from my phone which are the one that means the most to me.

So my phone working perfectly fine was starting to get close to full memory capacity. Automatically it decided to update a program that my phone was obviously not ready for !!! I am here now crying my eyes out because I know my photos are all in that devices that is not allowing me to get them out in any way !

I know there’s a solution thats why I am not willing to restore factory settings, I think everyone here just wants to be able to save their memories.

Everyone from apple customers services has been extremely helpful and I can feel they genuinely want to help me out, but just like they fix so many others problems from previous phone I strongly feel they have to come up with a solution for everyone who is stuck in error 14.

The phone should not start a update that can not be finish and just stay in the loop it has to allow the owner to delete some of their data to continue with the update.

Please I hope they can read each one of this and do something about it to help us out !!!!
