Early 2014 MacBook Air charges only when the lid is closed

Hi There,

I have a Early 2014 MacBook Air charges that charges only when the lid is closed, when the lid is open, it charges for like 3 minutes and then the led on the magsafe turns off. If I unplug and replug the charger then it will charge for another 3 min.

Only when I close the lid then it will charge continuously. I am attaching the System Report -> Power

I have reset the SMC but no improvement, I have changed the charger but still the behavior persists,

Here is the battery information from System Report: https://d.pr/n/XXDldj

Thanks

MacBook Air 13", macOS 10.12

Hey spraveenitpro,

Welcome to the Apple Support Communities! Thanks for your question involving your Mac and how it only charges for a set amount of time with the display open. I'd be glad to see what I can do to assist you.

Does this happen with all outlets? You did great by testing the charger, but just to make sure we cover all our bases, we might want to check the power source as well, so if you have another outlet available, see if the same issue is present there too. If so, it may be necessary to have your Mac inspected. You can learn more about that in Mac Service and Repair.

Hope that helps!

Be well.
