Can my Apple ID transfer a fault to my device

My iPhone 7 started turning itself off and on again. Assuming it was time for a new phone I bought an iPhone 11 and the same thing is happening, listing ‘fatal error’ in the analytics. I’ve been through Apple support and they said I needed to set up the phone as new and download my backup through the cloud, rather than quick start. I did this and the fault still persisted. Eventually phone was sent for repair and they have sent me a new one which is doing exactly the same! Is it possible that there is a fault somehow linked to my Apple ID which is then transferring to these devices? Or am I just really unlucky?!

Thanks in advance!

In my opinion, it's not a matter of Apple ID. I think you have corrupt data (apps, media, documents) in your old 7.

What happens if you restore your 11 to factory settings and, in the end, you set it up as NEW, using these instructions:--> Restore your iPhone, iPad, or iPod to factory settings – Apple Support then testing it for some hours WITHOUT restoring data from your backup?

If everything is fine, your iPhone has no problems related to hardware nor to iOS built-in apps.

Restoring data from a backup or transfering them using quick start, might transfer also corruptions.

Should be this case, you have no choice: Set it up as new and start from scratch.

Many thanks for this Giulio, I’ll give it a try. When you say start from scratch, do you mean create a new Apple ID? Presumably I would then lose everything linked to my current Apple ID (photos, music etc?) I have an iPad which is synced with the same ID and don’t have any problems though.

One I thing I did notice is that I couldn’t backup to iCloud via my iPhone (7 or 11) - I don’t know if that is somehow linked?

It’s all very frustrating!
