If my current iPhone malfunctions continuously, will that malfunction pass on to brand new one?

I had an IPhone 6 (or 7) Plus & it seemed to have a mind of its own. I would write a text, and a different text would appear. I would get texts & voicemails late (over 2 hours late), Facebook often stopped after 10 posts. Upon examination, Apple said it was fine. Then When I purchased my new IPhone 11 plus, I had my old information transferred… & was told it could not be affected by an older malfunctioning iPhone. Whether you call it a virus or something else, neither phone worked correctly. I am therefore reticent to transfer anything onto the new phone I hope to buy. Any advice… besides reassuring me that IPhones don’t get diseased? Thanks for any advice you can pass on.

It wasn't a virus, possibly a corrupt app or data.

If you buy a new phone and restore corrupt data, yes it could possibly affect your new phone.

You can try running the new phone for a few days without restoring the backup and see how it performs. If all is well, then try restoring your data. If it acts up after doing the restore, then you know you have something wrong with your data. At that point do a factory restore but don't restore the data, you will have to enter it manually.
