My iPad Pro 12.9 with Smart Keyboard won't let me edit a document with the keyboard. I can edit just fine without the Smart keyboard. Why?

Have you cleaned the smart connector?
It might be worth contacting Apple Support
Does your keyboard work in general?
Trying to figure out if its an issue with the keyboard in general or just an issue when you try and edit a document.
Are you running the latest iOS?
I’m running version 13.4.1 The Smart Keyboard lets me type everything except the space bar. If I hit the space bar the document closes. Thanks for your help.
