GarageBand recording delay

Hi - i’m hoping someone might be able to help me with this. I am currently trying to record on the latest version of GarageBand with a zoom Q8 used as a USB mic. When I record with the zoom mic, there is a delay between when the sound is produced and when that sound is recorded in GarageBand. I can visibly see the delay in the sound as it registers on the Zoom volume bars and when that sound then registers in GarageBand. The result is the recorded track is not in time even though it was played in time when it was recorded. The zoom software is all up to date as is GarageBand. Any ideas how this can be fixed? Is this an issue inherent to the zoo Q8 when used as a USB microphone for recording, if so, I assume the next step is to buy an audio interface and a mic in order to solve this problem?

Hello and welcome to Apple Support Communities Mark_Wade,

I see that you're having an issue with a having a delay with recoding in GarageBand. I can understand your concern, and I'd be happy to look into this with you.

Let's work together to try to isolate this issue. First, try recording from another source, such as the built in mic on your Mac and see if the issue remains.

If the issue remains while using the built in mic, create a test user on your Mac and test again.

How to test an issue in another user account on your Mac

Have you been able to record with the Zoom Q8 microphone in the past without this issue?

Let me know how this goes and if you notice any other changes.

Have a great day!
