2012 macbook wont install macOS

I have a macbook mid 2010, I get a message saying can’t install MacOS update, I’ve tried all the online guidance, Ctrl+r etc etc I can get to the macOS utilities screen however no options work, added issue is my key pad doesn’t seem to be working so have to use voice command, and can’t get into anything oh and the disk drive clicks when I switch it on as if looking for a disc when not one there.Help 😀

Try Mac OS High Sierra. Any Mac capable of Sierra is also capable of High Sierra:
