I have a macbook mid 2010, I get a message saying can’t install MacOS update, I’ve tried all the online guidance, Ctrl+r etc etc I can get to the macOS utilities screen however no options work, added issue is my key pad doesn’t seem to be working so have to use voice command, and can’t get into anything oh and the disk drive clicks when I switch it on as if looking for a disc when not one there.Help 😀

Thanks it clicks about 3 times when I switch it on then stops, only happens at switch on, I tried to reinstall macOS the it said untrusted cert title error, I can’t change date and time as Moyse won’t let me click on utilities
It’s trying to update toe MaOS Sierra I can get to utilities and select to upgrade then get an untrusted_cert_title errors message I read that I should go to utilise to update the date and time but my mouse won’t click on here
Thanks th3 problem is I can’t ‘try’ it I can’t get it to a place where I can try a different install, my mouse pad isn’t working, I’ve tried all the different key combinations , I just want to stop the install and get to the desktop.
If you're getting a pretty constant clicking sound ( not just a click when you turn it on) from the disk drive, it sounds like it may be a failing rotational disk drive.
Which update are you trying to install and has it allowed you to download it?
If you just want to upgrade, instead of Recovery Mode (command-r) just start up normally. Then use the link I gave you to find the upgrade in the AppStore.
