I can’t move pictures into a new shared album.

I just added a new shared album in photos. Whenever I drag pictures from my library to the shared album, it looks like they’re transferring from the little progress wheel at the top. Unfortunately, pictures don’t appear in the new album. I tried adding individual photos, whole albums of 27 photos, and nothing works. I also tried clicking on the new shared album and selecting “add photos and videos”. That doesn’t work either.

On my iPhone, I have no trouble with it. Just on my 3 year old iMac that’s running the latest OS.

Hello Jolivet,

Welcome to Apple Support Communities. It sounds like you're having trouble with shared albums on your iMac. I'd be happy to share information that may help.

First, take a look at the information here: Use Shared Albums in Photos.

You may also want to check out the details here about limits for shared albums: My Photo Stream and Shared Albums limits.

Finally, start up in safe mode to see if you're then able to add photos to a shared album: Use safe mode to isolate issues with your Mac.

Take care.
