Mac Os Recovery won't work on my Mac Pro Made in 2007.

As the dvd players are too old to read anything I have inserted the original disc of the O.S. Snow Leopard in an external dvd player plugged in USB. At rebooting, I have tried all short cuts, COMMAND + R, OPTION, OPTION + COMMAND + R and the result was always the same, when I click on Reinstall OS X:

"This is not a supported method of installing the operating system"

I have tried to create a boot disk from my macbook pro but it is up to date and refuse to download anything prior to its version. I have looked into the terminal in my mac pro and I still have the partition of 600MB for recovery, however nothing seems to work.

Does anyone have a suggestion?

I don't mind purchasing an O.S. license for $20 but which one then I will have to create a disk image to have the mac pro booting from it.

Thank you

I am in NYC.

Yes I have tried all those things and further before I came to the point of reaching out to someone for solutions.

I had not mentioned everything I have tried but you covered most of it to help defining where the problem could be from and I thank you for taking the time.

Although it's funny I thought I created the post in the Apple community, when I clicked on your link you provided earlier and typed "dvd player doesn't boot - mac pro 2007" the first post that appeared was this/our exchange. How to ask a question to the Apple community differently than the way I did?

I will look into OWC, thank you very much for that tips!

Have a good day to you
