FUNTER APP Removed Searchmine from Chrome (Sierra OS) 4 May 2020

I pulled my hair trying to remove Searchmine from Apple Macbook last over the weekened. I moved Chrome to trash and reinstalled. But the searchmine is still showing. I followed the steps that other people said, "AdminPrefs" that is not even in my macbook. Today I typed, "app views hidden mac files." That is I know how to fix PC but I'm a dumb Mac user. For Safari, it is easy by removed the software and reinstalled it. Then searchmine disappeared. Chrome keeps showing.

My Solution: After I found a few app, this is only one that work. FUNTER app.

After installed it, opened up the FUNTER and typed, "Searchmine."

Selected (highlighted) all of them (those showed up in your search), click on the DELETE. That removed all the searchmine. This app also works like Windows to find junk or any unwanted files then you can remove it. I used the same method as using REGEDIT to manually remove virus.

Thanks for sharing.

Malwarebytes for Mac would have easily found the browser hijacker and removed it.

As for Admin Prefs - you are the administrator, so can you put your mention into perspective please. There are many preferences, so it is difficult to guess what you are referring to.

And, there is no virus for Mac. So whatever that windows app regedit removed, I have no clue.

It would be best not to run Windows-centric apps on a Mac OS.

You can just ask here for help before you work on your Mac as if it was a Windows machine. it is not. It works differently (thank goodness).
