We have 4 apple tv's and go to MN for a fishing trip and the kids do not have internet, is there a way to download the kids movies on the apple tv and watch them on the apple tv when we get to the cabin without interent but with the apple tv???

I am not sure why the apple tv's offer storage now if you can't download a movie to the actual box and take it with you places that do not offer internet. We got the new apple tv's thinking we could download a couple of the over 200 movies we have bought and be able to take them with us when we go on vacations that do not have internet. Any suggestions?

The storage is for apps and game data only, it is primarily a streaming device and has been that way since the 2nd gen. If you are going to a location that doesn't have internet you can still download those movies to an IOS device or laptop and then use airplay to stream them to Apple TV, the only exception would be purchased movies as those still need to ping a server for authentication.

Apple TV is not a storage device and it relies on the internet to work. So unless you have an INternet connection at the cabin having the Apple TV will not be of much value. We take one of our Apple TV's with us on vacation too but we always have an Internet connection and that seems to work just fine. We have traveled out of the country and were still able to use our Apple TV but of course we were limited to the content available in the other country.
