iPhone music library won't sync to Mac

I just updated both my mac and my phone, and iTunes is gone. My phone connects to finder, and all my music library is visible, but when I sync, it acts like it does it, but all my music is greyed out on my phone, and will not play. I was able to get my purchased from apple music back, but all my other music is gone, and it won't add new music. I'm not paying for apple music, and I'm not paying for iTunes match, I just want to sync my music library on to my phone. Please advise.

Are you getting any error messages, such as out of memory, or device not authorized?

If you haven’t already, perform a Restore, if Restart doesn't solve your issue. Also, make sure you’re phone is unlocked if you’re using USB connection.

Thanks for the response. I checked out both articles. I'm not getting an error message. All iOs are updated (thats what caused the problem.) All iCloud links are unchecked, and all of the music I want to sync shows up in the list in finder. 99% of the music was already on my phone when I started and now it just wont play. There are only 10 new songs I wanted to import, and now nothing on the phone works except itunes purchased music.

Yes. I see music and I have played music from it. My music is all in there. It did integrate all my itunes including playlists. I have gone thru the sync settings. My music still shows in the itunes folder, and it shows in the list of things I can sync to my phone in the finder window. It just won't actually do it. I have checked for it to sync my entire music library, and it goes thru the motions but when its done, nothing is changed on the phone.

When I uncheck the sync entire library option, I can scroll thru the list of items to check to sync individually. I assume that those are the music files on the computer and their presence in that list indicates they are available to sync. I'm fairly computer literate, but at this point I'm willing to concede any number of operator errors. All the music is present in the Music app, and all the music is present in that list with check boxes when I uncheck sync all music. I've tried just checking a few select items but nothing happens. It goes thru the motions but doesn't change anything on the phone.
