Photos won’t save to camera roll from email

Why is this so difficult??!!! It’s a simple ave from an e mail attached photo to phone. Says it’s saving then nothing appears in my photos. I’ve reset the phone, I’ve deleted and EE downloads app, I’ve tried one at a time, I’ve tried holding my finger on the photo I want and nothing shows up aka nothing is being saved! What is the issue here apple?

  1. Open the mail containing the image that you wanna save
  2. Tap the image
  3. The image will open in full screen
  4. You will find a pop up logo on the bottom left corner
  5. Tap that pop up, and a menu will open from the bottom
  6. Scroll down to Save image option & select it
  7. The image will be saved to your Photos

Yes, I know. I did that the first time, before restarting phone, before I tried anything else. Now it's actually saving but it's making folders that I dont want on my phone. so at least it is now downloading but not to where I need it to be so apps can access it...on my camera roll. really annoying as I didn't create the folder, it's just doing things for me that I don't want done. Any other ideas as to why it's not saving?
