Multiple Preboot folders
Since upgrading to Catalina I have four Preboot folders and back-up folders all at the root. Are these all needed? I am not able to delete them. My work iMac does not have these folders.

In Catalina you do no have r/w access to system files. r only

It seems like poor housekeeping, folders are dated 2017 so they came along for the ride. You may be stuck with them.
Reinstalling the macOS may relocate them for you.
